Tyler Road, Illinois Bridge Work Begins Wednesday

Work to Begin June 1 and Continue through the Summer

The City of St. Charles is launching two road construction projects on South Tyler and repairing the Illinois Bridge. All three projects are scheduled to begin June 1 and continue through the summer. During construction, a portion of South Tyler will be closed and one lane will be closed on the Illinois Bridge. Details below.

South Tyler Road Resurfacing

The road will be patched as needed and a new top road surface applied. Work also includes repairs to the existing curbs, sidewalks and utilities.

  • Road will remain open during project work.

South Tyler Road Reconstruction

Cambridge Drive to East Tyler Road

Work includes complete replacement of the entire roadway, including curbs, driveway aprons existing pavement and underlying stone base. Improvements also include repairs to sidewalks and existing utilities.

  • Road closed to through traffic. Please use detour route to Kirk Road.

Illinois Bridge Over the Fox River Repair and Maintenance

Work includes steel removal and reconstruction, concrete repair, pavement reconstruction, and sidewalk and curb repairs.

  • Road reduced to one lane in each direction from Riverside Avenue to First Street. Sidewalk will be closed; please use the pedestrian bridge south of the Illinois Bridge.
  • All entrances to businesses/properties will remain open during project work.
