Visitors to Forest Preserve Dog Park Asked to Use Caution During Maintenance Project

Portions of the Fox River Bluff West Forest Preserve in St. Charles will be closed this week for a brush-clearing project.
Southeastern portions of Fox River Bluff West will be temporarily closed Sept. 19 through 24 for maintenance in order to maintain pipeline access. Magellan Pipeline Company, L.P. has an easement for a pipeline beneath the preserve, according to the news release.
Fox River Bluff West is one of the Forest Preserve District’s popular off-leash dog areas. The District asks preserve users to be mindful of the closed area as well as the possibility of construction traffic on or around the site. Preserve users are also asked to keep dogs safely away from the construction area, according to the news release. Warning signs will be posted and a spotter will be present to help keep dogs away from the work site.

Pet owners may alternatively use dog parks within Riverbend Community Park at Courier and Geneva Avenues in St. Charles, or Regole Forest Preserve located at 3790 Commerce Dr., St. Charles. For larger off-leash dog areas, visit Aurora West Forest Preserve at 40W032 Hankes Road in Aurora or Schweitzer Woods Forest Preserve at 16N900 Sleepy Hollow Road in West Dundee.
