West Chicago Police Department Reports Successful Enforcement Campaign

Successful law enforcement campaign netted multiple motorist citations in November.

The West Chicago Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois from November 17 – 30, 2014 to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers. The Click It or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilizations are supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of a state-wide safety initiative promoting motorist safety.

During the mobilization, West Chicago Police Officers issued:
• 22 seat belt citations
• 1 child car seat citation
• 2 suspended/revoked licenses
• 2 unlicensed drivers
• 6 uninsured motorists
• 3 speeding citations

Traffic Safety Unit Sergeant Spencer Kroning with the West Chicago Police Department reminds motorists that, although the annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in West Chicago, it is no excuse to stop using a seat belt. “Our officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation,” said Kroning.
