Winners Announced from St. Charles Scarecrow Festival

Did you get the chance to stop out to this past weekend's festival? Here is a look at who won the scarecrow display contest.

ST. CHARLES, IL - The winners from the 31st Annual St. Charles Scarecrow festival have been announced.

Thousands of residents and visitors from across the state and country came together in St. Charles over the course of the three-day festival this past weekend to vote for their favorite scarecrow creations from more than 100 entries on display, according to a press release from the Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau.

During the closing ceremonies on Sunday, St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina and Miss Illinois Jaryn Franklin presented the contest awards.

Here are the results:

MECHANICAL CATEGORY:

  • First Prize ($550): “Dogs” by Ted Eynik
  • Second Prize ($400): “Under the Sea” by Lisa Larson
    “Under the Sea” by Lisa Larson won second prize in the mechanical division of the St. Charles Scarecrow Festival.
  • Third Prize ($300): “From Rags to Witches” by Janura's

MEGA CATEGORY

  • First Prize ($450): "The Legend of Sleepy St. Charles" by Kevin and Lindsay Hermann
    "The Legend of Sleepy St. Charles" by Kevin and Lindsay Hermann won the Mega Category at the St. Charles Scarecrow Festival.
  • Second Prize ($300): "Pub 2 Too Many" by Tatiana Hamilton & Natalie Bork
  • Third Prize ($200): "Marklund's Party by Stephanie Bushong and Markland

CLUBS NOT FOR PROFIT INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY

  • First Prize ($300): “We Gather Together!” by St. Patrick Preschool
“We Gather Together!” by St. Patrick Preschool won the groups/not-for-profit category at the St. Charles Scarecrow Festival.
  • Second Prize ($225): “Calvin and Hobbs” by The Anderson Family
  • Third Prize ($175): “It's a HOOT at Swing Set Preschool” by Swing Set Preschool.
  • Fourth Prize ($125): “Mermaid Scarecrow...be proud of the skin you're in” by Ferson Creek Brownie Troop #48
  • Fifth Prize ($100): “Charlette St. Charles” by St. Charles Park District Dance Academy
  • Sixth Prize ($75): “Let the Scouts Be With You" By Cub Scout Pack #113
  • Seventh Prize ($75): “Sugar Skull" by Lily Contreras

FAMILY CATEGORY

  • First Prize ($200): “The American Bison” by Drew Pistilli
    “The American Bison” by Drew Pistilli won the family category at the St. Charles Scarecrow Festival.
  • Second Prize ($150): “Scare Wars: Yoda and the Battle of the Scarecrows” by Team Fraser
  • Third Prize ($100): “Pokemon Crow” created by Joy Wilbur

GREATER ST. CHARLES BUSINESS CATEGORY

  • First Place Prize (ad in the Kane County Chronicle): Trellis Farm and Garden of St. Charles
    Trellis Farm and Garden of St. Charles won the business category at this year's Scarecrow Festival.
  • Second Place Prize (ad in the Kane County Chronicle): "Deadlift” by CrossFit 333 of St. Charles
