Youth Gymnastics Facility Closes Abruptly

Spring Hill Gymnastics announced it would be closing its facility at 2750 Pinnacle Drive in Elgin.

ELGIN, IL -- Rising taxes and health issues spurred a decision by the owners of a Elgin youth gymnastics facility to close their business abruptly. Spring Hill Gymnastics has been in operation at 2750 Pinnacle Drive for about a decade, and before that was located on McClean Boulevard for about eight years, and served 1,200 young gymnasts from the area, according to the Daily Herald. Owners Dale Roehrig and his wife, Mary Joe, had planned to sell their business but a buyer recently backed out.

"There's nobody out there that cared more than my wife and I. We really, really wanted the best," Roehrig told the Daily Herald."I know people will be angry, but it's certainly not a betrayal. It's survival."

In a message posted on the Spring Hills Gymnastics Facebook page, the Roehrig's said they would return any money paid for team and coaches fee as soon as possible.
