Search Ongoing For 1 Missing After Car Leaves Road, Drives Into Pond In Tinley Park: Officials

TINLEY PARK, IL — One person is missing, and rescue crews remain on the scene after a car drove into a pond in Tinley Park Monday evening, officials said.

Tinley Park Manager Pat Carr said the incident happened around 6:30 p.m., near the entrance to Odyssey subdivision. Authorities know there was one person in the car when it left the roadway and went into a pond, Carr said.

A bystander attempted to reach the person in the car, but the vehicle sank too quickly, Carr said.

Water rescue units remained on scene as of 9 p.m., with a Chicago Police helicopter.

Carr said it was not immediately clear what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
