TINLEY PARK, IL — One Chicago man was arrested and two others released without charges in Tinley Park last week after multiple residents called police about three people going through cars parked on a side street near 173rd and Harlem. Darnell M. Smith, 20, of Chicago faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis, but the other two suspects were released after the witnesses could not positively identify them.

Tinley Park police responded to the 17200 block of 71st Court at 2:16 a.m. on Oct. 29 after callers reported three men wearing dark hoodies going through cars.

Shortly after they began to look for suspects, police said one of the men climbed from the inside of a wooden privacy fence in a 71st Court backyard and right in front of a police sergeant just before he was detained.
