In 1917, Melvin Jones, a 38 year-old Chicago Business Leader, told members of his local business club they should reach beyond business issues and address the betterment of their communities and the world. Jones' group, the Business Circle of Chicago agreed. After contacting similar groups around the United States, an organizational meeting was held on June 7, 1917, in Chicago. The newly formed group adopted the name, "Associations of Lions Club." Within 3 years, Lions became an international group. Our very own Tinley Park Lions Club was founded in 1928 and re-chartered in 1949. Since 1928, our group has been dedicated to serving the needs of others, helping the visually and hearing impaired in our community.
On October 11th, 12th, and 13th the Tinley Park Lions Club will be out collecting donations from the public at multiple locations. On Thursday morning we will be at both 80th Ave and Oak Park Avenue train stations. On Friday we will be at the Tinley Park Post Office, Walt's foods, and Walgreens at 167th & Oak Park. Then on Saturday we will be back at the Tinley Park Post Office and Walgreens on 167th & Oak Park Ave. Please come out and see us.
