7-Eleven Gas Station Proposed For 171st And Harlem In Tinley
Vequity, LLC is seeking a rezoning, special use permit and variations to build a 7-Eleven gas station with 10 pumps.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Officials in Tinley Park are considering a developer's request to put a 7-Eleven gas station at the corner of 171st and Harlem. Vequity, LLC is seeking a zoning change in addition to a special use permit and variances to construct a gas station with 10 pumps at the southwest corner of the intersection.
Currently there are a handful of homes near the site of the proposed gas station, which is vacant. Concerns have been raised of the impact a gas station on that side of Harlem would have on the community, however.
"I think it's a mistake to do this," Trustee Diane Galante said, sharing her concerns for the residents who live in the area. "It doesn't sound right. It seems like we are trying to squeeze something into a space that wasn't meant for it."

Vequity is requesting to change the zoning of the location from R-1 single-family residential to a B-1 neighborhood shopping zoning district. The five variations they are seeking are related to lot size, lot width, lot depth, drive aisle width and freestanding sign setback. They seek to combine two land parcels into one to create the 3,511 square-foot gas station, which is planned to have 10 fueling stations.
Discussion on the proposal begins at the 39-minute mark of Tuesday's village board meeting shown below.
