Amazon Monee fulfillment center offering free tours all summer for residents to keep learning
School might be out of session, but Amazon’s Monee fulfillment center is offering a creative activity for residents to avoid the summer heat and keep learning – free behind-the-scenes tours.
Anyone who wants to see the magic firsthand that happens after clicking “buy” on Amazon can browse times online at www.amazon.com/fctours and book a tour that fits his or her summer schedule. A fulfillment center tour will give attendees a special chance to see:
- How Amazonians pick, pack and ship customer orders that are delivered throughout Illinois
- How Amazonians use state-of-the-art technology to locate specific items among millions of products
- A warehouse the size of 14 football fields packed with products and state-of-the-art technology
- Miles and miles of conveyor belts whizzing packages across the fulfillment center
Since the public tours program’s launch in May 2014, Amazon’s fulfillment centers have welcomed tens of thousands of visitors each year, including students, families, elected officials and nonprofit organizations. The Monee site started hosting public tours this past February and is one of 23 unique fulfillment centers in the country to offer them.
