TINLEY PARK, IL — The Village of Tinley Park recently named the winners of the 2026 Reta Brudd Scholarship program, which awards seven $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors residing in Tinley Park with plans to attend a college, university, or vocational trade school in the fall. In addition to academic achievement, a substantial consideration in selecting winners is how much community service the students have performed.
Scholarships were awarded to Martin Dwyer (Lincoln-Way East), who will attend the University of Missouri to major in business; Maya Culbertson (Andrew), who will attend Illinois State University to major in education; Ava Oftedahl (Andrew), who will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to major in speech and hearing sciences; Delaney Cole (Chicago Christian), who will attend Indiana Wesleyan University to major in psychology; Rayane Harir (TPHS), who will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to major in electrical engineering; Elizabeth Barth (Andrew), who will attend Lewis University to study speech and language pathology; and Sarah Stewart Anderson (TPHS), who will attend Olivet Nazarene University to study vocal jazz and political science.
The scholarship program is named in honor of Reta Brudd, who served as a commissioner for 46 years until her passing in April 2019. She contributed more than 20,000 hours of volunteer work and received many recognitions and awards.
