Enrollment Open Now For 2027 Tinley Park Citizens Police Academy

TINLEY PARK, IL — Applications are now being accepted for the next class of the Tinley Park Citizens Police Academy.

Applications are available at the police department, 7850 W. 183rd St. The academy is a 12-week program designed to give residents a working knowledge of law enforcement and the Tinley Park Police Department.

Classes will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays from Jan. 8 to March 25 at the Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 W. 183rd St. The program is free but limited to 30 students per session.

Each block of instruction will offer an in-depth overview of how specific divisions within the police department operate. The program will be both informative and educational, allowing students to participate in hands-on training experiences.

Applications are available in person only from 7 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays starting Aug. 17 at the police department. Completed applications will be date-stamped by a police department clerk when returned.

To apply, applicants must be at least 21 years old and must reside or work within the Village of Tinley Park. All applicants will undergo a background check. For more information, call the Tinley Park Police Department at 708-444-5300.
