The drivers involved remained on the scene and cooperated with police, police said Sunday. Both drivers voluntarily submitted to a breathalyzer, with neither showing any sign of impairment, said Deputy Police Chief Brian McDermott, who referred to the incident as a "tragic accident."

Tinley Park police initially disclosed his age as 60 years old; the medical examiner's office has amended that.
