The Tinley Park High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) presented a $700 donation to Tinley Wish at Tinley Park Fire Station 46. The funds were raised at the chapter's second annual Film on the Field fundraiser and will go directly toward helping families in the community.
On October 7, more than 100 students gathered on the school's turf field to watch Michael under the stars, enjoying popcorn and movie snacks throughout the evening. Proceeds came from admission and concession sales, and Ed & Joe's Pizza generously provided pizza so that every dollar raised could go to the cause. NHS officers led the effort, designing the movie poster, promoting the event, setting up the field, running concessions, and reaching out to local businesses for partnerships.
NHS officers Renee Marie Saludar and Christiana Adeolu, Pietro Sansone, NHS Advisor, and Wendy Bumphis, Assistant Principal, presented the check to Tinley Wish representatives Maureen Dillon, director, Peter Marianovich, director, and Cheryl Bobbitt, secretary, at Tinley Park Fire Station 46.
"Film on the Field shows what our members can accomplish when they combine leadership, service, and a genuine desire to help others," said Pietro Sansone, NHS Advisor at Tinley Park High School. "Our students planned, promoted, and ran this event, and our community showed up for it. We are grateful to Ed & Joe's Pizza for their generosity, to Tinley Wish for the support they provide to local families, and to everyone who helped turn a movie night into real help for our neighbors."
"Collaborating with my peers and local businesses was truly empowering, and presenting the check provided clear evidence of our National Honor Society's efforts." said Renee Saludar, NHS President.
The chapter thanks everyone who attended and supported the fundraiser and looks forward to continuing the tradition next year.
