Another Iconic Business Closes Under Mayor’s Watch

Mayor Mike Glotz is putting on a master class on how to kill iconic, local businesses.

The latest business to close under Glotz’s jobs killing regime is Dendrino's, which was located at 183rd and Oak Park Avenue. The business was known for its cheap, cold beer, stellar pizza and 4 am closing time.

Up until June of last year, the business was located in unincorporated Cook County. Being annexed into Tinley Park last summer, though, created costs the business could not afford.

"Following the lack of options and heavy cost burden presented by the Village at our meeting earlier this month, we had no other choice but to close our establishment after 54 years of serving the Tinley Park community," the Dendrino family stated in media reports.

Part of the character in a community is the local businesses. Mayor Mike Glotz says he is for economic growth, but his actions appear to tell another story. There are no immediate plans for the property where Dendrino's was located. Couldn’t the Village work with Dendrino's and give them some time to get their business up to the Village’s code?

The unwillingness to help an iconic local business is yet another example of the arrogance of this Administration. How many businesses is Mike Glotz going to close? How can our community grow and prosper with Glotz’s jobs killing policies? Can any business that does not contribute to Glotz’s campaign hope to survive in Tinley Park?

Once again, Tinley Park is the punch line of a bad joke thanks to the inept leadership of Mayor Mike Glotz.
