Armed Men Rob Woman, Steal Car Before Police Chase In Tinley Park

Police said they ended a chase involving suspected armed robbers due to community safety concerns.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Police in Tinley Park say a pair of armed men robbed a woman in her own garage early Wednesday evening and then carjacked a man a couple of miles away before fleeing from police during a chase.

The woman told police she was getting out of her car in her garage in the 17800 block of Woburn Road shortly after 5 p.m. when the pair, who had part of their faces covered and were armed with guns, stole a few items from her and left in a light-colored SUV or minivan.

Then, a short time later, a man called police to report his vehicle had been carjacked in the 17600 block of Duvan Drive. The man's description of the carjackers matched the woman's description of the robbers in the earlier incident, police said.
