Attempted Murder Charge In Tinley Park L.A. Fitness Shooting: PD

A Chicago man has been charged after police said he shot another man 5 times outside the fitness facility Thursday evening.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A 26-year-old man faces an attempted murder charge after shooting another man five times outside a Tinley Park L.A. Fitness after an argument over a basketball game escalated, police said Saturday.

Michael L. Gomire, 26, of the 9100 block of South Buffalo Avenue, Chicago, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after the Thursday evening shooting in the parking lot at L.A. Fitness, 18400 Convention Center Drive in Tinley Park. Police originally said Gomire was a Richton Park resident.

The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. when an argument over a basketball game inside the gym spilled into the parking lot. After the argument, Comire went to his car, retrieved a gun, and walked back to the man before shooting him five times, police said.

The victim was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, and his condition remains critical but stable.

Gomire will appear in court Sunday morning at the Criminal Court Building, 2650 S. California Ave., Chicago.
