Banging Gavel Moves Forward With Plan For Vogt Building
The plan for a brewery at the historic Vogt Building in Tinley Park is moving forward as a construction permit could be near.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Trustees in Tinley Park voted in favor of economic inventive agreements for Banging Gavel, the brewery planned to take shape in the coming years at the historic Vogt Building.
Jim Richert, co-owner of Banging Gavel and a Tinley Park-based attorney, said that while there have been several delays in the project since the public first became aware of it some two years ago, that final construction plans could come soon and work could begin as soon as the necessary permits are obtained.
The earliest the brewery could realistically open would be in 2021.

Richert said the construction of the project will come in two phases, but about 90 percent of the work will be done after the first phase and the brewery should be able to open after that's completed.

Originally, Richert said, the main kitchen was to be on the first floor but plans now call for it to be on the second. This opens up more seating on the first floor where the taproom will be, he said.
"It's actually a better situation for us and our customers," he said.
There will also be a smaller kitchen on the first floor in the latest plan, and an outdoor beer garden remains part of the plan.
Village trustees agreed to allow the village to chip in $150,000 for bank equity related to the project.
"We'll get a historical building that's fixed up at the end of this, and that's the silver lining," Trustee Michael Mueller said.
