Tinley Park residents pick out two athletes as the best to have ever suited up for Andrew High School.
TINLEY PARK, IL - Chicago’s Southland has been a hotbed for talented athletes for years and many of them have come from Andrew High School in Tinley Park.
Residents of Tinley Park were quick to point out the best ones in a casual Facebook question from the Tinley Park Patch.
The former Thunderbolt athletes who received the most mentions were Joe Gilbert, a four-time state champion wrestler and Christine Magnuson, an Olympic swimmer. Both Gilbert and Magnuson were inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in the same class.

Garrett Jones, a former Major League Baseball player who now plays in Japan, was another popular name mentioned as a possibility for the “greatest athlete to ever suit up for Andrew High School.”
