Brother Strangles 16-Year-Old Sister While Out on Parole: Prosecutor

Prosecutor said teen lost consciousness.

Tinley Park, IL, May 27, 2016 -- A Chicago man out on parole since March was arrested after he strangled his 16-year-old sister during an argument, prosecutors said Friday in court.

Rayshawn Hudgins, 25, appeared before Cook County Judge Kerry Kennedy on a charge of aggravated domestic battery.

The prosecutor said that Hudgins was having an argument with his younger sister on May 26 in the 16700 block of Lakewood in Tinley Park.

Hudgins allegedly punched his sister before placing his hands around her neck, choking her until she lost consciousness.

The teen was transported to the hospital where she was given an IV after being unconscious. Doctors noted red marks on her neck and face, the prosecutor said.

Hudgins is currently on parole from the Menard Correctional Center where he had been serving a one-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance.

He also has an arrest for domestic battery out of DuPage County, the prosecutor said.

Hudgins is currently living in Chicago.

Judge Kennedy set bail at $300,000. He also ordered electronic monitoring should Hudgins bond out. He is to have no contact with this sister.

Hudgins is due back in court June 17 in Bridgeview.
