Central Middle School Inducts Students to Honor Society
CMS inducted 51 students into the National Junior Honor Society
At a ceremony on September 28, Central Middle School inducted 51 eighth grade students into the Twister Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).
NJHS is an organization that recognizes outstanding middle school students. Those inducted into NJHS have demonstrated excellence in five pillars: scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
During the induction ceremony, five inductees explained these pillars. George Les spoke about scholarship, Ahmed Alasaff talked about leadership, Isabella Valfre explained service, Margaux Perell spoke on character, and Jensyn Higgins talked about citizenship.

“Character is not something that can be quickly or easily learned,” said Perell. “We develop character each day and moment when we are thinking about the right thing to do in our lives and trying to make the right choices. As new members of the NJHS, we hope to prove by example that we value character.”
In order to receive an invitation to apply, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. Applications are reviewed by NJHS Faculty Council Members.

“Scholarship is a commitment to learning. We should all strive to be lifelong learners,” said Les. “Learning helps us understand the past, guides us to understand the present, and the light that will illuminate the future.”
Those inducted into NJHS are challenged to continue growing through active involvement in school activities and community service during their remaining middle school career. Students received a certificate at the induction ceremony, and will be given a stole to wear at their graduation ceremony.
