Chaos reigns supreme at Tinley Park Village Hall

The flurry of resignations at Tinley Park Village Hall raises some serious questions about the stability of our local government.

First it was Tinley Park Police Chief Matt Walsh who resigned on Sept. 15th. Walsh had been appointed Police Chief in 2018. Now the Village Finance Director, Dave Adamski, has resigned during the Village’s budgeting period!

There are also growing concerns about a lack of staffing at the Village’s Fire Department. A community the size of Tinley Park needs to have a fully staffed Fire Department.

Why are people leaving good positions with the Village? Do these resignations have anything to do with the Mayor’s Administration? What does all of this uncertainty mean for the future of our community?

One thing is for certain. Mayor Mike Glotz and the Village Board need to focus primarily on running the Village and making sure we are able to retain good people to serve residents. The Village does not need to be focused on things like buying naming rights to local bars and restaurants for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Our community has lost its way. We need to get back to the basics: fire and police protection; responsible budgeting; and true community service. In short, we need honest leadership. We need to end the pay to politics that has been the hallmark of this community for far too long. It is time Mayor Glotz to put people before his political ambitions and focus on the needs of this community. We will miss community servants like Walsh and Adamski. Maybe the Village will find good people to replace but until the culture at Village Hall changes, the question still remains – can we keep them?
