Christian Pregnancy Group Sues Over Law Requiring Doctors To Inform Patients Of Abortion Option
Pregnancy Aid South Suburbs is among the Christian groups claiming their rights are violated by "right-of-conscience" law.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- Pregnancy Aid South Suburbs, which has locations in Tinley Park, South Holland and Lansing, is one of the plaintiffs in a lawsuit challenging a new law that requires physicians and nurses to notify patients of all available options including abortion, according to a Chicago Tribune report. PASS, along with another Christian pregnancy center in the west suburbs joined a doctor who works at various Chicagoland pregnancy centers in bringing forth the lawsuit against state officials including Gov. Bruce Rauner.
The lawsuit claims their constitutional free-speech rights are violated by the law that went into effect in January because it forces them to offer advice that they find morally wrong, the Tribune reports.
In the law, sponsored by Democratic State Sen. Daniel Biss and dubbed the “right-of-conscience” law, providers must offer a “standard of care” that includes informing them of all their medical options, abortion included.
