Craigslist Cannabis Deal Ends in Arrest: Cops

Tinley Park man sells cannabis to undercover cop after advertising cannabis for sale on Craigslist, prosecutor said.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- A Tinley Park man is accused of advertising cannabis for sale on Craigslist and selling it to an undercover police officer. Mohamed Musa, 35, appeared before Cook County Judge Michael Kane on a felony charge of manufacture and delivery of cannabis. Bail was set at $10,000.

The prosecutor said that a Tinley Park police tactical officer was perusing Craigslist, when he stumbled upon an ad for pot for sale. The officer sent a message to Musa stating he was interested. Musa allegedly texted the officer and they up a meeting place at a gas station at 84th Avenue and 159th Street in Tinley Park. The agreed upon price was $575 for two ounces of marijuana, according to the charges.

When Musa pulled up into the gas station, he gave the officer a signal, prosecutor said. Musa called the officer’s cell phone and said he wanted to make sure the officer was “cool.” He allegedly told the officer that he needed to go home and get the pot, which was five minutes away. Police followed Musa out of the parking lot and stopped his car. The prosecutor said two ounces of marijuana were found under Musa’s front seat.
