Crash With Traumatic Injury Shuts Down I-80

Traffic was stopped Friday evening after an accident involving an SUV pulling a motor home and another vehicle were involved in a serious crash on I-80.

The accident occurred in the westbound lanes of I-80, west of Harlem Avenue near LaGrange Road around 8:29 p.m.

Illinois State Police confirmed at least one person was down on the interstate highway. It was not clear if the person was pulled from one of the involved vehicles or ejected.

Tinley Park and Mokena fire departments responded.

The patient was transferred to Silver Cross Hospital with traumatic injuries. Four others were being treated at the scene.

Traffic was still blocked on I-80 after midnight.
