Five months after leaving the School Board, John Malloy was back at District 146 on Tuesday, October 10. Malloy was honored by the Board of Education for his years of service to the District.

Citing his dedication to the District 146 students and community, the Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution inducting Malloy to the District 146 Wall of Fame.

“John’s time on the Board is highlighted by his outstanding leadership, fairness, and character,” said Dr. Jeff Stawick, Superintendent. “He always made his decisions based on what was best for our students and never wavered from that. The District is better because of his commitment.”

Malloy served the District through attendance boundary changes, construction projects, and school remodeling, all while keeping his eye on fiscal responsibility. The Board resolution noted his dedication to attending not only Board meetings, but many school and District events throughout his tenure.

Malloy was first elected to the Board of Education in 2007. He served on the Board for the next 16 years, including two years as the Vice President, and eight years as the Board President. He retired from the Board earlier this year.

“I really never imagined one of us would be up there, let alone me,” said Malloy. “This is a wonderful Board of Education and a fantastic district to be a part of. I’m so grateful to have been able to serve the district and the community.”

Malloy joins 21 others on the District 146 Wall of Fame, and is the first former Board of Education member inducted.

Community Consolidated School District 146 is comprised of Central Middle School, Fierke Education Center, Fulton School, Kruse Education Center, and Memorial School. Students from Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Oak Forest attend District 146 schools.
