District 146 Board Welcomes New Member
Margae Schmidt of Tinley Park was appointed in February to fill an unexpired term
At the beginning of its February 9 meeting, the District 146 Board of Education appointed Margae Schmidt to fill the vacancy left by Darcy Nendza.
“I’m honored to serve, and committed to keeping students at the center of every conversation and every choice,: said Schmidt. “I’m especially excited to contribute to long-term planning that keeps students at the center of every conversation and ensures our district continues to grow and thrive.”
Mrs. Schmidt has a Master of Library in Information Science (MLIS) and works as the Consulting and Continuing Education Specialist at Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS). She is also the current President of the Library Administrators Council of Northern Illinois (LACONI) Technology Section and the Secretary of the LACONI Governing Board.

“Margae brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Board,” said Dr. Jeff Stawick, Superintendent. “I look forward to working with her as the District continues to strengthen our schools, support our staff, and ensure every student has a great school experience.”
Schmidt said she is excited by the opportunities she will be given to listen to families, staff, and the community; collaborate with fellow Board members; and help shape policies that support strong, inclusive schools.

In her free time, is a certified yoga instructor. She lives in Tinley Park with her husband Justin and two children, Ena and Emmett.
Community Consolidated School District 146 is comprised of Central Middle School, Fierke Education Center, Fulton School, Kruse Education Center, and Memorial School. Students from Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Oak Forest attend District 146 schools.
