District 146 Offers Community Classes

District 146 will be offering free English Language and Computer Classes to community members

District 146 is once again offering free adult English language classes to community members. Classes will also include lessons on email, internet searches, and Google Drive. The District is partnering with Governors State University to provide these virtual classes. Fall (October 3–December 15, 2022) and spring (February 6–April 25, 2023) sessions are being held.

Three courses will be offered:

Beginner
Monday & Wednesday, 9–10:30 a.m.
ESL exercises, mouse/keyboard training, writing emails, opening and attaching files to emails, using google translate.

Intermediate
Tuesday & Thursday, 9–10:30 a.m.
ESL exercises, beginner technology skills plus internet search, and Google Drive.

Advanced
Monday & Wednesday, 9–10:30 a.m.
ESL exercises, beginner and advanced technology skills, and Google Drive.

Each participant will receive a Chromebook and study materials to be used throughout the classes. Limited seats are available and participants are expected to complete the whole session.

Registration and pretesting will be held on September 21 and 28 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the District Administration Center, 6611 W. 171st Street in Tinley Park.

The English language classes are paid for using funds from the District’s Federal ESL grants.
