The exodus continues in Tinley Park

It is never a good sign when people start leaving an organization in droves. Mass resignations tend to signify trouble within the organization.

The growing number of resignations at Tinley Park Village Hall is certainly no exception. There seems to be big trouble brewing inside Village Hall.

Deputy Police Chief Larry Rafferty who was hired in 2021, is the latest to leave.

"I left a wonderful, wonderful place, and hoping for great things here. I look forward to working with all of you,” Rafferty said in media reports following his hiring.

Now he is leaving barely two years later. Rafferty’s departure follows the resignation of Tinley Park Police Chief Matt Walsh and Village Finance Director, Dave Adamski.

So, what happened? Why are so many people leaving? What is going on at Village Hall that is leading to so many departures?

One thing is for certain, this chaos is not sustainable. We need better leadership. Working for Tinley Park should be something good people are lining up to do. Our community needs to be able to recruit experienced, talented people and, as importantly, keep them. Unfortunately, under Mike Glotz’s tenure, we aren’t.
