Fire In Tinley Park Leaves Home Uninhabitable

Several fire departments responded to a fire that took up multiple floors of a home at 181st and Harlem on Monday.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A multi-story house fire on 181st and Harlem in Tinley Park has left a home uninhabitable. Fire crews from Tinley Park and surrounding towns had the majority of the fire contained within 20 minutes, Tinley Park fire chief Forest Reeder said. No one was home at the time of the fire and no firefighters or civilians were injured.

Tinley Park fire crews arrived after a call to a home in the 18100 block of S. Harlem was made at 3:07 p.m., according to Reeder. When firefighters arrived, they found "a working fire on multiple floors of a 2-story single family residential home." (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest Tinley Park news. Anywhere from six to eight additional fire departments responded to Tinley Park during the incident. An incident commander who was at the scene told Reeder that fire crews remained there for about an hour after a majority of the fire was contained.

The fire caused northbound lanes of traffic on Harlem between 183rd and 179th streets to be closed for more than an hour.

Reeder wasn't sure how many people will be displaced from the home as a result of the fire.
