Franciscan Health accepting applications for Healthcare Careers Camp

Participants ages 16 to 18 can earn a $750 stipend upon successful completion of free program at Olympia Fields hospital

Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is accepting applications through April 26 for the free Exploring Healthcare Careers Camp for students interested in the medical field.

Applicants must be between the ages of 16-18, have a GPA of 2.75 or higher, have successfully completed math and science courses with a C+ or higher, have a letter of recommendation from a school staff member and write a 500-word personal essay. Space is limited to 20 participants who must pass a screening process, including immunization, health test and drug screening requirements.

Attendees will participate in 14 hours of education, hands on activities and department observation; earn certificates to help advance in healthcare careers; network with Franciscan staff and administrators; attend field trips and meet peers with similar interests.

Upon successful completion of the camp and compliance with the attendance policy, students will receive healthcare certificates, professional references and a $750 stipend. The program is supported by the Franciscan Health Foundation’s Community Health and Wellness Fund.

The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 15 through July 26, at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, 20201 Crawford Ave.
