Frankfort Teen Used Tinley Police Radar Board To See How Fast He Could Drive: Cops

The board topped out at 50 mph, police said.

The Tinley Park cops caught a Frankfort teen speeding by a digital radar board to see how fast he could drive, police said.

An officer was sent over to Bantry Lane to look into a complaint of a reckless driver. When he got there he spotted a blue Subaru Impreza heading east on Bantry.

“The suspect vehicle began to drive at a high rate of speed toward a Tinley Park Police Department radar trailer,” police said. “The speed displayed on the trailer topped out at a max speed reading of 50 mph.”

The officer pulled the 18-year-old over and asked why he was going so fast, police said, but the teen “advised that he did not have any legal justification for driving 50 mph in a 20 mph zone.”

The officer reportedly found out what the teen was up to a short time later.

“While in my squad an unidentified female exited the residence and stated, ‘What did you do?’” a police report said. The teen “advised the female subject he was using the radar trailer to see how fast his car could go.”

The teen was charged with driving 30 mph over the posted speed limit.
