Free Comic Book Day: Amazing Fantasy in Tinley Park Will Participate
The local store will participate with promotions throughout the day.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- A comic book store in Tinley Park is participating in Free Comic Book Day on Saturday. Amazing Fantasy, at 16649 Oak Park Ave., is participating in the nationwide effort to bring readers into local book stores. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 and offer opportunities for good deals and finds both inside and outside the store.
“We are having a large sidewalk sale,” said Garrett Anderson, owner of Amazing Fantasy. “This year in particular we have a great set of books, especially good ones for kids and younger readers.”
Books that are part of the sidewalk sale will go for $.25 apiece, but the first ten you want will be free.

Shoppers can also get up to ten books inside for free, meaning supporting a local Tinley Park business that has operated for years can result in up to 20 books for free.

“This batch (of books) is special,” Anderson said. “It’s a really interesting batch with quite a few books that haven’t seen the light of day in some time. People will be very excited.”
Anderson said there will be plenty of comics dating back to the 1990s and 2000s as well as a number of “superhero-type” titles.
In addition to the books earmarked for Free Comic Book Day, Anderson says all other merchandise inside the store will be 25 percent off on Saturday.
