German Exchange students immersed in American, Andrew HS culture
German, Andrew high school students learn from one another
Guten Tag! German exchange students have arrived at Victor J. Andrew High School. A total of 17 German students are staying with 17 sophomore and junior Andrew students. These students and their two teachers hail from the Wolfgang Ernst College Prep High School in Büdingen, Germany. Büdingen is Tinley Park's sister city and this exchange marks the sixth exchange with this school.
The Germans will shadow their partners on a few school days and several field trips are planned. Pumpkin carving, a haunted house, and a football game, not to mention a play and a choir concert are also components of the trip.
However, the exchange goes far beyond sightseeing. Students are immersed in American culture; they live with host families, attend school, and take part in everyday life as a teenager.
