GiGi’s Playhouse Tinley Park's 5K 'Dash For Down Syndrome' Donut Run To Celebrate Inclusion, Acceptance

Registration is open now for the June 13 event. Sponsorships are also welcomed.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Families, runners, walkers, and supporters of all ages are invited to lace up their sneakers and join the fun at the GiGi’s 5K Dash for Down Syndrome – Tinley Park Donut Run on June 13. This uplifting community event celebrates inclusion, acceptance, and achievement while raising critical funds to support free programming for individuals with Down syndrome throughout Chicago’s south suburbs.

The event will take place at Orland Park’s Centennial Park/ 153rd St Metra, and feature activities designed for participants of all ages and abilities, including:

  • Timed competitive 5K Run
  • 1-Mile Inspirational Walk
  • Kids’ Dash

Whether participants choose to run, walk, dash, volunteer, or cheer from the sidelines, organizers say the event promises an energetic and inspiring day for the entire community.

"This is more than just a race — it’s a celebration of acceptance and the incredible individuals and families we serve every day," said Molly Chesna, Board President of the Tinley Park Playhouse. "Every registration, donation, and sponsorship helps us continue providing life-changing educational and therapeutic programs completely free of charge."

The annual peer-to-peer fundraiser directly benefits GiGi’s Playhouse Tinley Park and supports a wide range of free programs focused on literacy, math, fitness, and social connection for individuals with Down syndrome.

Community members who are unable to attend in person are still encouraged to get involved by:

  • Donating to the cause
  • Joining or creating a fundraising team
  • Becoming an event sponsor
  • Sharing the event with friends and family

Organizers encourage supporters near and far to help make a difference and continue expanding opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
