Goat yoga a unique, healthy experience for fitness class students
Trees, birds and goats, oh my!
Victor J. Andrew High School Group Fitness Class students recently took a field trip to Nature’s Trail Yoga facility to stretch and meditate alongside trees, birds, and…goats.
Fitness teacher Katie Gibson chose goat yoga as a way to meld stretching, meditation and nature. According to Gibson, research shows working with animals can help reduce stress/anxiety and help those who have experienced trauma.
“The students were able to interact with their peers outside the classroom in a therapeutic way. The Nature's Trail Yoga facility was very serene and beautiful. Goat Yoga is a unique activity for my group fitness students to help improve their mental/emotional, physical and social health,” Gibson said.

"It was a heartwarming, joyful and memorable experience. I genuinely smiled the entire time. It was just so much fun!," said student Bri Wierzbanowski.
Gibson added, “I hope my students gained a sense of peace, relaxation, and confidence to try new ways to be physically active. I hope my students were able to see there are more ways to take care of ourselves that don't involve a typical gym.”
