Governors State to Host May 23 Electric Transportation Summit

Governors State University (GovState) is set to host an Advancing Smart Logistics Symposium, where industry experts will band together for a morning of panels to discuss the challenges and opportunities that come with the electric airborne transportation or eVTOLs ( electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft).

Reggie Greenwood, Director of the Supply Chain Innovation Center and Business Incubator; College of Business; School of Extended Learning, and symposium host, will moderate discussions that explore the impact of eVTOLs ( electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft). on the economy and environment.

Panelists include: Lisa Clemmons Stott, Illinois Dept. of Commerce & Economic Opportunity; Ryan Cafarelli, Raytheon BBN Technologies; Dr. Laurence Audenaerd, MITRE; Chris Smith, Corn Belt Ports; and Drew Keiser, TCCI Manufacturing.

Part of its Thought Leadership series, Governors State University's College of Business, School of Extended Learning, and Supply Chain Innovation Center and Business Incubator are collaborating to bring the Advancing Smart Logistics program event to life.

Greenwood said, “The Advancing Smart Logistics Symposium showcases the continued evolution of the state's efforts to be a center for the EV (electric vehicle) industry. This conference demonstrates that Illinois is also looking to the air to see that drones and eVTOLs are becoming a key facet of the EV industry.''

eVTOLs technology comes from an emerging need for new aerial vehicles that offer greener and quieter flights. “Not only can this technology leave a smaller carbon footprint, but it also has the potential to lower operating costs of aircraft,” he said.
