H-F High School Student Alleges Sexual Assault By Another: Police
A female student at Homewood-Flossmoor High School told school officials Monday that she had been sexually assaulted at the school.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — A female student at Homewood-Flossmoor High school alleged on Monday that she was sexually assaulted by a male student while on school grounds, Flossmoor police said Tuesday.
Police were called to the school Monday afternoon, when officers were told that a female juvenile student reported to school officials that she had been assaulted in the building earlier in the morning.
Students in the theater department were working in small breakout groups to rehearse lines at the time of the alleged assault, H-F District 233 Superintendent Dr. Scott Wakeley and HFHS Principal Dr. Clinton Alexander wrote in a statement to the school community.

"We are all feeling a variety of emotions, including shock, sadness, and anger," they wrote. "We want you to know that Homewood-Flossmoor High School staff members are specifically trained to process these emotions with your child(ren)."
The alleged assault was immediately reported to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, per protocol, they wrote.

Officers took a male juvenile student into custody and transported him to the police department for further questioning. The male student was later released to the custody of his father while the investigation is ongoing.
Flossmoor Police detectives are working closely with the families and school administrators during this investigation. Detectives will conduct personal interviews with each student and witnesses, if any, the district said.
"We understand that members of our community want details and answers immediately," they wrote. "However, we must allow an investigation and law enforcement process to take place."
