Hastings responds to governor's veto of SB 2046

Measure provided funding for colleges, human services.

SPRINGFIELD— Senator Michael Hastings (D-Tinley Park) responded to the veto of SB 2046 which would have fully funded state universities and community colleges, MAP grants and human services not covered by a consent decree.

“By vetoing this bill the governor once again has left many of our state’s neediest out in the cold. Our low-income students could now be on the hook for thousands of dollars that they were promised so they could attend college. This money would help families who have children with autism get the necessary therapy they need,” Hastings said. “We need to stop holding our residents who need the most help as leverage and start protecting them.”
