Hillcrest High School Key Club Collects Cell Phones for Soldiers

"This is our 8th year," said Amy Trench, Key Club Sponsor. " It is a great organization and we are happy to do it again!"

It is that time of year again where we at Hillcrest are asking that you search those junk drawers, reach out to family and friends and donate your old, dated, broken cell phones, tablets, etc., as we take part in Cell Phones for Soldiers (CPFS)!

CPFS is a national nonprofit serving troops and veterans with free communication services. If you are able to donate, we are collecting cell phones, smartphones, and tablets from any carrier. This even includes outdated devices! Donations will be collected through December 15.
"This is our 8th year," said Amy Trench, Key Club Sponsor. " It is a great organization and we are happy to do it again!"
Some important things to note:

  • If you have a charger to donate, please keep the original phone and charger together.
  • If you cannot factory reset your phone, our recycling partner is up to DOD standards, R2 and NAID AAA certified for wiping devices.
  • CPFS provides funds to veterans to alleviate communication challenges.
  • CPFS has kept over 20 million phones out of landfills.
  • CPFS has provided over 400 million minutes of free talk time to soldiers overseas.
  • Everything gets recycled properly and calling cards are purchased for our troops that cannot come home for the holidays!

Collection boxes are in the main office and the IMC! The public is welcome to drop off donations in the front foyer.
