Hillcrest HS students Learn Barbering From South Suburban College

Some students event received free haircuts.

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, IL - On Tuesday, March 21, Hillcrest High School students in Country Club Hills, attended a Barber Shop Career Day event in the IMC. The event allowed students to connect with South Suburban College instructors, who offered career advice and free haircuts.

A room full of interested students met with two instructors from South Suburban College who were able to answer a number of questions from students, including how to get started, how to continue to learn in the field, and how to choose a career that makes them happy.

“There are a lot of students who are undecided. During senior interviews, many seniors express their interest in barbering and cosmetology,” said Brandi Mathis, College and Career Counselor at Hillcrest High School. “This is a free program that will teach students a trade that is transferable, and that they can continue to use.”
