Hotel Employees Find Child Porn on a Thumb Drive
A data device that wound up in a Tinley Park hotel's lost-and-found contained child porn, police said.

Staff members at a local hotel called the cops around 4 p.m. on Saturday after they found a computer jump drive containing child pornography.
An employee at Country Inn and Suites, 18315 S. La Grange Rd. in Tinley Park, said she found the thumb drive in the lost-and-found and asked if she could use it, according to the report. After items are in the area for 90 days, they are purged, staff said.
"(A staff member) said he would plug the drive into his computer and see if he could identify an owner," the report said. "When they observed sex acts involving what appeared to be 9 or 10-year-old Caucasian children on the jump drive, they called the police."

The hotel's manager provided police with a room number in which the item was found and said it could have been turned in anytime between May 1 and July 7, according to the report.
Although it's the company's policy to date items that have been turned in, it had not been done in this case, the manager said. Police accepted the thumb drive as evidence.
