Kids Raise $1000 for Lurie Children’s Hospital

Local Tinley Park and Orland Park cousins held their second annual lemonade stand for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago a few weeks ago. In spite of the rainy August day, the kids successfully doubled last year’s fundraising and collected $1,000!

To ensure the lemonade stand was a success, the children spent their summer planning for the day. They designed and handed out over 50 fliers around the neighborhood, made posters to display, and baked cookies to sell.

The kids have had a vested interest in earning money for Lurie Children’s as one cousin is a regular patient of the nephrology department. Last year’s $500 was used by the nephrology department to buy testing kits for patients who cannot afford these necessary supplies. This year the children are happy they can help even more kids. “We’re so glad we could donate to Lurie Children’s to help kids like us”, added one of the kids. They are all so excited to present their donation to the staff at Lurie Children’s on October 14th. Beyond that, the cousins can’t wait to see how much they can raise next summer!
