'Lucky Shirt' Man Charged With Spitting in Tinley Park Cops' Faces

Man wearing "lucky shirt" was being arrested on another matter when he cleared his throat and spit in the cops' faces, prosecutor said.

A man wearing his “lucky shirt” was arrested after he spit in two Tinley Park police officers’ faces as he was being taken into custody for hitting his father and violating an order of protection, according to a criminal complaint.

Austin Adcock, 21, attired in a “This Is My Lucky Shirt” T-shirt, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for resisting arrest.

The prosecutor said that earlier in the day on July 5, Adcock’s family had taken out an emergency order of protection. Adcock later showed up at his family’s Tinley Park home in the 7700 block of West 167th Street. A family member called police after Adcock allegedly hit his father.

As officers led Adcock outside to arrest him, the prosecutor said he cleared his throat and spit in the officers’ faces. Adcock appeared in another courtroom on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery, criminal damage to property and violating a court order of protection before his felony bond hearing.

“I don’t remember hitting my dad at all,” Adcock told the judge.
