Molly Maid brings more than joy to CCSS

Molly Maid of Southwest Cook County longtime supporters of CCSS

Tinley Park, IL – During October – Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Molly Maid of Southwest Cook County conducted their annual Baby & Kids Bonanza collection with their customers to support the Crisis Center for South Suburbia (CCSS). On November 11th, over 27 employees hand delivered their collection in bags donated by Walt’s Food Center. Pulling into the lot, a CCSS worker shouts, “This is my favorite part!” as several branded Molly Maid vehicles arrive. Employees of all ages jumped out of their vehicles and began hauling in donations. As CCSS staff step in to help, one asks, “How did Molly Maid get involved with us?” The support of Molly Maid of Southwest Cook County dates back to 1999.

The Ms. Molly Foundation was established in 1996 by the founders of Molly Maid. It is a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase public awareness of domestic violence and to provide assistance to local shelters and agencies like CCSS. Just three years later, CCSS received its first grant from the Ms. Molly Foundation. Each year since then, the Ms. Molly Foundations sends almost 150 grant checks to shelters and agencies across the country. Molly Maid has been holding collections for the Crisis Center since 2004. Because of the support of Molly Maid of Southwest Cook County, CCSS has received over $16,000 as a direct result of this relationship. Since the Ms. Molly Foundation’s inception, they have raised over $2 million for agencies throughout the United States.

In addition, because of the annual collection of items for the shelter and residents, CCSS has received toiletries, toys, baby diapers and clothes, pajamas, and many other items with a value of thousands of dollars. Founder Jim Long is ecstatic to have such a working relationship with CCSS. Long first heard about CCSS after working as Governor Edgar’s liaison for domestic violence shelters and also through his community relationships in Tinley Park. “We’re really happy to be helpful and supporting the Crisis Center,” says Long. “The Molly Maid owners strongly support this cause. The vast majority of our employees are women. We have seen those in need and know firsthand the value and importance of shelters dealing with this issue.”
