More Than $5,000 Stolen From Tinley Park Couple's Closet

The couple said only their maid or son could have gotten at the money, but they don't believe either of them took it, police said.

Someone stole more than $5,000 cash out of a Tinley Park couple’s closet.

The money was kept in two envelopes, police said. One contained $520 and the other held a full $5,000.

The $520 envelope was hidden “underneath a stack of folded clothes,” police said. The $5,000 was “located in the same closet on the same shelf,” police said. “The envelope was inside a folded shirt that was stacked with other clothes.”

The husband and wife, ages 43 and 40, respectively, told the law they “have a maid that comes to their residence every two to three weeks,” police said. “They also have a juvenile son that lives there. There is no one else that they know of who has access to the house.”

That said, the couple does “not suspect the maid,” police said. The wife also “confronted her son and all his friends … about the incident. (She) advised that there was no indication that any of their son or son’s friends were involved.”
