TINLEY PARK, IL — The improvement project on North Street, just east of Oak Park Avenue and north of the Tinley Park Metra station parking lot, is complete. The street's surface is that of permeable paver stones, and officials celebrated the completion of the environmentally friendly project during a ribbon cutting Tuesday afternoon.

Austin-Tyler Construction performed work on the street and a $200,000 infrastructure grant from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District helped fund the project, of which phase two took up much of the summer.

Piano key crosswalks are a unique addition to the new North Street, which will eventually be connected to Harmony Square, a project that hasn't begun yet directly north of the street. North Street is bordered by the Metra parking lot to the south and Oak Park Avenue to the west.
