New Map Details Hot Bed of UFO Activity Over South Suburbs

From Mt. Greenwood and Evergreen Park to Tinley, Frankfort and Mokena, UFOs sure like to visit Chicago's south suburbs.

A new, interactive map from Metrocosm details UFO activity over the south suburbs, which are apparently a magnet for alien visits.

Metrocosm has compiled more than 90,000 detailed reports of UFO sightings in the United States dating back to 1905 from the National UFO Reporting Center and Mutual UFO Network.

Big circles on the map represent many witness reports, medium circles indicate few witness reports, and the smallest circle indicates one sighting, such as the Alsip resident who saw “six spherical objects moving over my head in a northern path” on Nov. 24, 2013.

The south suburbs are a magnet for alien visits. Tinley Park reports the highest number of corroborated sightings in the United States, with 77 reports of “lights in the sky” on Oct. 31, 2004 (cue up War of the Worlds).

Witnesses from Evergreen Park and Oak Forest to Mokena and Frankfort reported three horizontal, equally spaced lights in the sky “way too big to be an aircraft” hovering in a triangular formation over Tinley Park:

“I was taking out the trash for tomorrow morning’s pickup, and as I was returning to the house was surprised to see three VERY bright, ruby red lights ... The lights did not blink on and off, and their luminosity was constant.”

“[My] neighbor … called and said that there was a single red light in the sky, Eastern sky of Tinley Park from 18000 and 88th Avenue.”

“I had just left a neighbors house and was heading home when I saw the 3 red lights in the sky in a long triangle formation. Shortly thereafter, maybe 5 minutes, I saw a airplane (slow moving) or helicopter fly directly into the formation or very close to it, and the shapes did not move or fade.”

Aliens made a repeat visit to Tinley Park a year later. An impressive 72 sightings were reported between 11:15 P.M. and 1:15 a.m., Sept. 30-Oct. 1, 2005:

“My brother called to tell me, at 1:07 AM, that there were two strange red lights in the sky. This seemed to be worth getting up for, especially since I was watching Casino on the Bravo network. My brother is located in Oak Forest, approximately 20 minutes from where I am in Evergreen Park.”

Coincidentally, UFOs also put on Fourth of July light shows in the Chicago area in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

A partygoer spotted a “red/orange fireball object flying over Mount Greenwood on July 4, 2010.

“Orange glowing lights” were sighted over Chicago Heights’ Bloom High School field before the July 4th fireworks show in 2012, and were then spotted over Frankfort, Aurora, Bolingbrook, Deer Park, Hoffman Estates and Lake Michigan.

And in July 2014, Eighteen people reported “objects flying in a circle” at various locations throughout the Chicago area.
