Newlywed Charged With Restraining Wife in Condo
Couple had been married for a few months. Husband would not allow her to leave condo after an argument, prosecutor said.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- A newlywed husband is charged with restraining his wife in their Tinley Park condominium following an argument, prosecutors said.
Frank Singleton, 31, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of unlawful restraint and misdemeanor domestic battery.
According to the charges, Singleton and his wife were having an argument in their condominium in the 7100 block of Laverne Lane on Oct. 17. During the argument, Singleton’s wife texted family members that Singleton wasn’t allowing her to leave the condominium.

The prosecutor said that Singleton took his wife’s phone away when she tried calling for help. After several hours, Singleton’s father-in-law showed up at the condo to retrieve his daughter.
Singleton allegedly blocked the door and grabbed his wife, preventing her from leaving while his father-in-law stood outside in the hallway knocking on the door.

The prosecutor said that Singleton called 911 and told police that someone was trying to break into the condo. It was only when Tinley Park police arrived on the scene that Singleton’s wife was able to leave with her father.
Singleton was taken into custody. His wife no longer resides at the condo.
Judge Felice released Singleton on a $25,000 I-bond and ordered him to have no contact with his wife while the case is pending.
“Don’t mistake kindness for weakness,” the judge said. “Don’t call her, don’t text her, don’t visit her or have one of your friends call her or I will revoke your bond and you will sit.”
Singleton is due back in court Nov. 9 in Bridgeview.
