Only consistency at Village Hall is their inconsistency

It was a huge scandal. Or so we were told.

Former Tinley Park Trustee Mike Mangin had accepted the Village’s healthcare plan. Trustee (at the time) Michael Glotz launched a vicious attack on social media and leaked info about Mangin taking health care through the Village by using several fictitious names to FOIA the Village of Tinley Park.

On March 20, 2018, Nancy O’Connor, who is now Village Clerk, addressed the Village Board and expressed her frustration that Mangin had received health benefits.

“Public service should be just that – public service,” O’Connor said.

Fast forward to 2023 and now Glotz ally Trustee Colleen Sullivan is receiving taxpayer-funded health care paid as well as a part-time Fire Department Lieutenant who is a staunch Glotz supporter.

But where is the outrage from Mayor Glotz? Where are the FOIA’s under fake names and why aren’t the Glotz Facebook pages expressing the same outrage that was directed toward Trustee Mangin? Why isn’t Clerk O’Connor lecturing everyone about “public service.”

Of course, we know the answer to these questions. The outrage was not that a sitting Trustee had lawfully enrolled in the Village’s healthcare plan. The real outrage was that Mangin was not a Glotz ally.

“I certainly hope at the very, very least, he is made to pay back that $24,000,” O’Connor said at the 2018 meeting.

But when it comes to Trustee Sullivan – nothing. O’Connor and Glotz are not budget hawks looking out for the taxpayers. They are interested in only one thing – preserving their own political power.

It was always about politics. Perks and benefits for cronies and allies. Nothing for everyone else. We deserve better!
